Nowadays progress in the study of Herons in the south of Ukraine

Literary review over the period 1976-2004 is given. It considers numbers, biology and biocoenotic links of herons in Ukraine, including south areas of the country. Of 260 papers 150 are stressed as the most important and they chiefly relate to herons of South Ukraine. Future steps in a further study of herons are outlined.
