About some rare species of waders in Dnepropetrovsk region, 2000-2003

In the years 2000 to 2003 inclusive the author observed 40 species of waders in Dnepropetrovsk Region. Details are given for the rarest species at Bulakhovsky Liman and Samarsky Rybkhoz. Bulakhovsky Liman: Black-winged Pratincole – three pairs nested in the area, at least one breeding was successful (15 May-27 June 2003); Collared Pratincole – three birds (19 May 2001).

Samarsky Rybkhoz: Social Lapwing – one bird in non-breeding plumage (4 September 2003); White-tailed Plover – 1 pair, unsuccessful breeding attempt (June 2000); Knot – 1 bird (21 September 2002) and 2 birds (4 September 2003); Whimbrel – 1 bird (4 and 9 May 2003); Bar-tailed Godwit – 1 bird (28 September 2003); Grey Phalarope – 1 bird, a breeding plumaged female (9 June 2003).
