The observations of Gyrfalcon (Falco rusticolus) in winter in the south of Ukraine.

Two visual observations of the Lapland Gyrfalcon Falco rusticollus rusticollus are discussed. They took place 17 January 2000 on the Chongarsky peninsula (the Crimea, Sivash) and 10 November 2002 near the village of Stavkovoe in Berezov district of Odessa region. Taking into account reliable facts of these Falcons catches within the area in the late 19th century, the article examines the question about frequency of this subspecies wintering and chances to discover Gyrfalcon.
