Woodchat Shrike in the south of Ukraine

Popenko V.M., Kinda V.V.

For the last years observations of Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator) became more often in the south of Ukraine and the Crimea during spring migration. In the manuscript there is a list of observations since 1986 in the south of Odessa, Nikolaev, Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, Lugansk regions and in the Crimea Republic.

There are presented data about breeding in the south of Ukraine and, for the first time, about an autumn migration which is unusual for this species. Some suppositions about new sites of the area and ways of their inhabitation are given.
