Adaptive capacity of different species of Anseriformes and their antioxidant status

Lysenko V.I., Malko S.V.

Dynamics of lipides peroxidation (LP) level and contents of vitamins A, E were searched for some model species of Anseriformes. It was discovered that the species with a high ecological plasticity typically have high contents of vitamins and a low LP level. Sex differences of these indices are explained by antioxidant properties of estrogens. Breeding rare species artificially, it is recommended to use antioxidant agents.
