Wintering waders of the Ukrainian part of the Danube Delta and adjacent territories.

Twenty species of waders were recorded there in winter during the period from 1983 to 2001. Such species as Numenius arquta, Calidris alpina and Calidris alba wintered regularly. In relatively mild winters Scolopax rusticola, Gallinago gallinago and Squtarola squtarola were observed. More than 13 species of waders occured in the area sporadically. State of the wintering grounds  for  waders in Ukraine is analysed in general. A forecast on the further development of the situation in connection with the global warming is given.
