The story of an unwritten book...

V. A. Busel

National Natural Park “Velykyi Luh”

20 years before the famous monograph by Y. V. Kostin «Birds of the Crimea» in the late 50-ies of the last century a major collective work of several well-known ornithologists I. B. Volchanetskii, M. A. Voinstvenskii, I. I. Puzanov and F. I. Strautman was started in Ukraine, which was to draw a sort of line in the study of birds of the Crimea. By a strange coincidence, this work was not completed, and only correspondence on its preparation was found in the archives. But it is of some interest for the history of ornithology in Ukraine.
