Wintering of birds in Western Crimea in 2005-2006

The communication presents data of counts carried out in November-March 2005-2006 along six routes in regions of Saki and Chernomorskoye and Yevpatoria. Favourable weather conditions in November-December 2005 contributed to numerous wintering of birds in the area. Sharp worsening of weather conditions since the second half of January 2006 brought about concentration of birds near non-freezing water bodies (Lake Kizil-Yar, Donuzlav). In a total, during the mentioned period 72 bird species were recorded in the area.
