New data about rare bird species in Nikolayevskaya region.

The data were gathered in Elanetsky and Novoodesky districts of Nikolayevskaya region in 1999-2001. Constant investigations were carried out in NR 'Elanetsky steppe”. 3 pairs of Long-legged Buzzard nested within the reserve (2000 - 2001) and two pairs were nested out of it (2001). In October 1989 Steppe Eagle was caught in Nikolayevskaya region and brought into the zoo. Status of Demoiselle Crane is undetermined. Crane was observed in June 1997, 1999 - 2000. In 1982 a pair of Demoiselle Cranes with their nestlings was seen in the field. Great Bustard is a rare migratory bird. About 10 pairs of Rose Starling were nested within the reserve in 1996 - 1997.
