Untypical colonial breeding of Bearded Tit in the plavni of Molochnyi liman (Northern Priasovie)

Koshelev A.I., Peresadko L.V.

Single-territorial breeding had been considered typical for Bearded Tit as up to 95% of found nests (n~ 195) in 19HH-1999 were solitary. In 1990-1991 colonies of 12 and 20 nests were discovered. The clutches consisted of 4-6 eggs, some nests contained 4 nestlings. The colonial breeding was rather unsynchronized (15 and 35%). There was no apparent advantage of colonial breeding strategy as far as we could judge from the reproduction success.
