The Purple Sandpiper (Calidris maritima) in Ukraine

Z. O. Petrovich, K. O. Redinov

In Ukraine there are known 2 records of the Purple Sandpiper in the Crimea (Kostin, 1983). We observed single individuals at the seashore of Kinburn Peninsula (Mykolaiv region, Ochakiv district 46.25.36.52”N, 31.42.51.67”E). The sandpipers were seen 4.12.2009 and, probably the same bird, 24 and 30.10.2010. We managed to take picture of the bird on 24.10.2010. These observations are proved by Faunistic Commission of the Wader Study Group.
